Derzeit gibt es auf der Welt eine Reihe von Firmen, die Satelliten produzieren. Diese befinden sich in den USA, Europa (besonders Frankreich, Deutschland und England), Rußland, Indien und China.
Viele Firmen haben schon eine lange Geschichte hinter sich, wobei sie unter anderem Namen auftraten. In der Satellitenbranche sind Übernahmen und Aquisitionen gang und gebe.
